Can your funds be traced or frozen?

Whether lost crypto can come back depends on a few facts: what happened, how long ago, where the funds went and what evidence you have. Answer six questions and you will see how a lawyer would read your situation at first glance — and what to do tonight.

6 questions · about 1 minute · no percentages, no promises

1. What happened?

2. When did it happen (the last transfer or the block)?

3. Where did the funds go?

4. Do you have the transaction hashes (TXIDs) and addresses?

5. Have you reported it to the police?

6. Roughly how much was lost or is blocked (USD)?

Questions we are asked

Can stolen crypto be traced?

Usually, yes — every transfer stays visible on the blockchain. Tracing shows where the funds went; it does not return them by itself. Funds come back only when they reach a platform that can freeze them and a court or the authorities order the return.

Who can freeze stolen crypto?

Exchanges can freeze a customer account that received stolen funds, and issuers of some stablecoins, such as USDT and USDC, can block an address. Both usually act on a request backed by a police report or a court order, and speed matters.

Why do you not give a percentage chance?

Because an honest percentage does not exist. The outcome depends on facts a short questionnaire cannot see — the exact platform, its country and its response. Anyone quoting you a success rate before seeing the transactions is guessing or selling.
