Templates
Document templates you can use today
These are the three documents that start almost every case we take. They are free, they are yours to edit, and you can send them yourself without a lawyer. Each one is written in the order the person on the other side reads it, with [square brackets] where your own details go.
Appeal to exchange compliance: lift the restriction on my account
A formal appeal to the support and compliance team of an exchange (Binance, Bybit, OKX, KuCoin and others) when the account or a withdrawal is restricted: what to state, which source-of-funds documents to attach, and a deadline for the reply.

A written request to the compliance team of the platform that received your stolen funds, or to a stablecoin issuer, asking them to hold the amount and preserve the records until the authorities make a formal request.

A statement for the police or a cybercrime unit (and usable for IC3 or Action Fraud): the facts in the order an investigator reads them, the transaction evidence, and the specific requests that make the report actionable.

How to use the templates
- Send documents from the email address the account is registered to, and keep a copy of everything you send.
- Facts, dates with time zones, amounts and transaction hashes do the work. Emotion and threats do not.
- One request, one deadline, one list of attachments — that is what gets an answer.
- Never include your seed phrase, private keys or passwords in any document, and never send them to anyone who asks.
Questions we are asked
Do I need a lawyer to send these?
No. All three documents are meant to be sent by you. A lawyer helps when the exchange stays silent after a formal deadline, when the amount justifies a court claim, or when the funds crossed into a jurisdiction where a freezing order is realistic.
Will an exchange really freeze funds because I asked?
A compliance team can place an administrative hold, but whether it does depends on its terms, the jurisdiction and how specific your evidence is. A request with transaction hashes and a police report number is treated differently from a message that says "I was scammed". Nobody can promise a freeze.
Are these templates valid in my country?
They are general templates written to be understood by exchange compliance teams and investigators in most countries, not filings tied to one procedural code. For a court document, or where a national form is prescribed, use the local form and keep the structure of facts from these templates.
